History Quiz in the Year 2099

Short Fiction By Russell Twyce

A teacher stands before her class of Junior High School students. The fashions and hairstyles have changed much over the last ninety years, but the arrangement of desks and the faces flushed with life of the children remains as it is today. The history teacher is holding a paper for a pop quiz.

“Quiet now.” She holds up a flat hand to call for silence and attention. “Now who can tell me what the three main era’s of the previous 2000 years were called?” She chose one from amid the small wheat field of raised hands. “Jilvian?”

“The first was the dark ages,” a girl answered, “of which not very much was recorded with full accuracy.”

“Correct. And who will tell us what period came next? Rodagar?”

“Yes mam.” A blond boy stood up to answer. “Then came the age of feudalism and serfdom when people were owned by the land and where the land was owned by the nobles.”

“Very good.” The teacher smiled. “What was the third? Jacqeleze?”

“Industrial Age.” A timid girl answered quickly. Then she saw the imploring look on her teacher’s face and expanded on her answer. “It is also known as the second age of feudalism and serfdom.”

“Thank you.” The teache said. “Now can someone tell me the difference between the first and second ages of serfdom? Barklane?”

“In the first, the nobles owned the land and the land owned the people. In the second, the lawyers, police and politicians owned the law and the law owned the people.”

“That’s close, but you missed something important.”

“Nations owned the land and the people?”

“Yes.” The teacher nodded. “In order for it to be considered serfdom, human bondage needs to be involved and that was certainly the case when nations were thought of as all-powerful. Who can remind us of what other overly powerful entities people had to overthrow before they gained real freedom?”

“The corporations that had been given super-human status.” A boy answered after the teacher nodded at him. “They had huge revenues and they bought and sold politicians, lawyers and judges. I think it should be called the black age of corruption and greed. How were people stupid enough to abide with it?”

“As we covered in the lesson, populations under the two Nazi regimes were repressed mostly by the harsh police action, economic blackmail and a mass media that pumped out propaganda. Adstell, will you tell us how the two Nazi regimes differed?”

“The German Nazi government was anti-Semitic and the American Nazi government was pro-Semitic. And while the German Nazis called themselves Nazi, the American Nazi government used the names Democrat and Republican.”

“Fazette, can you elaborate on why the American Nazi government was not named for what it was?”

“The Americans fought the German Nazis during World War Two and so a stigma was attached to the term. However, the American Nazis were just as racially intolerant of all non-Americans as the German Nazis were. The American Nazis were also as violently expansionist. They felt that their strong economic and technical abilities entitled them to crush ‘inferior’ nations, cultures and people.”

“Well done.” The teacher beamed. It seemed like her whole class of students were likely to score well on the formal test. “So for a final question in this quiz, who will describe what finally ended the Nazism and serfdom to give us the wonderful civilization we enjoy today? I’ll point and you can each offer an answer.”

“Excellent!” The teacher applauded. “Next week we’ll be starting our next module. That will cover the history of economics. We start at the gold standard and finish when the criminal greed practices like the commodity futures market and debt based currency were abolished. Have a great weekend!”

The Akashic Trial of a Pope

This IS Fiction, or at least it’s the product of my imagination. It doesn’t matter which Pope, nor even when. Like lawyers, Popes haven’t changed basic ideology, or undergone a fashion change, in hundreds of years. So this story is timeless, as are the Akashic Records.

The Akashic Trial of a Pope Short Story by Russell Twyce

It came to pass that a Pope and a pauper died at the very same instant. In life, the circumstances and the treatment of the vacated bodies could not have been more different. In the Pope’s case, the seconds after his passing were frantic with activities. The death was long expected, planned for, and each priest, nun, cardinal and staffer had a choreographed series of functions to complete on schedule. The pauper’s body just waited to be unceremoniously disposed of, as soon as someone noticed that the spirit had vacated it.

But we’re really not exploring the events in life that anti-dated the instant of the two coinciding deaths, because the pair of spirits entered eternity at precisely the same time and our story begins there.

“I am THE Pope.” Bereft of his vestments and valuable baubles, his holiness had only the strength of his conviction, and a vicious set of spiritual elbows, to push himself to the forefront, when they had arrived neck-and-neck.

“I will inherit the earth.” Said the pauper meekly. But true feelings are not easily concealed in the beyond and the poor man’s thoughts were gleeful. ‘I’ve got a ringside seat to witness a Pope’s ultimate justice! It’s just too bad that a lawyer didn’t keel-over too: I might have seen if that well-worn joke was based in truth.’

In the 4-d theater of the afterlife, the lives of both men began to replay. The pauper’s story was short: he had not been able to afford enough to make for a feature-length life screenplay. When his show was over, the Pope had just graduated from seminary school. From there, the scenes switched to the exploited alter-boys and young nuns the Pope had sexually molested during his formative years as a rising priest.

“It wasn’t as bad as it looks here.” His Holiness said in a mortified undertone. “I elevated some of those people to prominent positions within the church hierarchy.”

“After you had emotionally scarred them and made them unfit for life outside of the church.” The pauper retorted in disgust. ‘You then promoted them to where they could pass on your instruction to a next generation of exploited young.”

“YOU are not my judge.”

“Now I’m wondering if that first lawyer to reach lawyer joke was off the mark. Seeing your Akashic record replayed has made me doubt if all hundred and however many Popes really did make it through the pearly gates of Heaven.”

“Very few Popes have made it to paradise.” A third soul’s voice resounded.

“Jesus!” The Pope and the pauper exclaimed in unison.

“I did some good things too!” The Pope protested and he wished he could shut off the projection of his sins. And as if in response to his desire for secrecy, the Akashic Records player stopped.

“You do know that you will have to watch the effects of your sins in its entirety.” Jesus said with a sneer in his voice. “Some of your predecessors still haven’t finished absorbing the full impact of their self-serving acts. But it’s bad enough that you and I have to screen it all: we don’t have to co-punish your friend here with that too.”

“You will be watching it with me?” The Pope internally cringed.

“That’s my punishment.” Jesus said. [Content protected for Chevron members only]

“You should go back for you second coming? You could set matters right.” The poor man suggested, and then he chuckled. “You’d be well stocked with hot and cold running nuns, each of whom is technically already your bride.”

The Mad Trapper’s Ghost – Part One
By Russell Twyce

The snow blew in small white tornados that buffeted his stalled car.  The outside temperature was not so low that he would in immanent danger of freezing to death, but his job prospects in this devastated economy were now an icicle that wouldn’t soon melt.  The very last of his money had gone into his gas tank to drive him out to the work site – that was wasted cash now.

“Why me?’  Donald asked the blizzard.  “What have I ever done wrong?”

None of his actions had merited the hard times he had descended into.  The global economic situation dictated and the population suffered accordingly.

“Now what?”  He observed the small drifts already starting to build up on his car.  If the snow kept up as it was now, the whole vehicle might be buried in a few hours.

“Now,” a voice spoke from the passenger seat, “we can go to my place.”

“What the hell!”  Donald swiveled to his right in shock, and his astonishment then magnified exponentially at the sight of a fur-clad man seated suddenly beside him.

“I’ve been to Hell quite a few times,” the solid-seeming ghost said matter-of-factly, “and I don’t find it nearly as bad as some folks make purgatory out to be.  But this is one Hell of a winter storm out here.  So why don’t we relocate to my cabin?”

clickbank250“Will I find my car again?”

“What does it matter even if a truck hits it under a pile of snow?”  The trapper said as he exited the car.

“The motor is as dead as you will be if you continue to sit in it.”

“Who are you?”  The stranded and unemployed motorist asked as he trudged along in the ethereal woodsman’s footsteps.

“I suppose that you could call me Albert Johnson.”  The mad trapper offered over his shoulder, and the words seemed to swirl the snow with a chill wind from Hell.  “I’ve had a number of names over the many years.”

‘Albert Johnson?’  Donald wracked his brain for how he knew that name.  It was familiar but the mental snows of time and events had drifted over the snippet.

The small log cabin was snug and well chinked against the raging blizzard outside.
After brushing the snow from his clothing, Albert had busied himself in fixing two mugs of steaming cocoa.  The confused guest had stripped off his outer clothes and taken a seat next to the hearth.

“The only ‘Albert Johnson’ I knew of,” Donald said after his first sip of the soothing beverage, “was also known as the ‘Mad Trapper of Rat River’.  He killed one RCMP officer in the high Canadian Arctic, wounded another policeman and then was shot after leading the cops and trackers on an exciting manhunt.  But that was way back in the 1930’s.”

“It was 1931.”

“If that was you,” Donald said in mocking disbelief, ‘then you were shot 9 times and your grave is in Aklavic in the Canadian Northwest Territory.”

“That was neither the first time I was dead, nor the last.”  The unusual trapper lifted his shirt to point at several bullet scars.  “This one finally finished Albert Johnson.”  He appeared to be of about 30 years old: that was about the age of his bemused guest.  “I was born in 1330 and my name was Nicholas Flamel.”

“You were purported to have discovered the Philosopher’s Stone.”

“Apparently,” the man smiled ironically, “those rumors are accurate.”

“You don’t sound like you’re French.”

“An accent tends to fade after a couple of hundred years.”  The one time scrivener and alchemist joked.

“But we’re not here to recount my life or rather, my many lives.  I’m with you to discuss your fate.”

“What do you know about me?”  Donald asked.

“I know enough to have prepared this cabin well in advance of your becoming stuck in a stalled vehicle here.  I’m aware of both your current situation and the straights that brought you to this life juncture.”

“How could you possibly have known that my car would break down just there?”

“The philosopher’s stone grants me the ability to peruse the Akashic Records.  Those unearthly books contain the history of the world as seen through the eyes of those who witnessed and participated in the actual events.”

“Why me?”  Donald repeated the question he had asked himself in his car.  “I’m just a simple nobody.”

“Nobody is a nobody.  What you are is a victim.  The movers and shakers have rolled over your life’s prospects with utter disregard for you – or for anything but their own enrichment.  According to the Akashic Records, your existence could have ended right there on your lonely road, in the middle of nowhere.”

“Until you intervened.  Now I have a second chance.”

“That’s complicated and if I spent the next hundred years explaining it, you still wouldn’t completely understand.  But I’ll touch on the high points while we have supper.”  [Content protected for Chevron members only]

“There is no real joy in money.”  It wasn’t the Pope but the pauper’s soul answering.  “I had no wealth in my life but I lived and I loved.  Can I go on now?”

Do you often wonder if things that you have read about historical events are actually true?

UCH--Banner120x600History books are written by the winning side. Imagine how differently the accounts of the Nazi Holocaust would’ve been recorded, had Hitler won World War Two. I’m not saying either view is right or wrong: I’m simply noting how propaganda ALWAYS leans towards those in power.

So do you ever wonder what REALLY happened? And how it ACTUALLY affected the REAL people who were involved? But even if you were talking to a Holocaust Survivor, or a Participant in the Armies of Either side, could know for certain if they were telling the WHOLE Truth and Nothing But the Truth? Yet there is a way to know. Everything that has ever happened and all that will ever happen is already written in the Akashic Records and these hold nothing but the absolute and literal facts, described without even the slightest bias.

“Where are these Akashic Records kept?” The Akashic Records are housed in the most secure of all possible places – The Akashic Records are stored in eternity. And God consults the Akashic Records during a soul’s judgment. Can any dispute that testimonial? Would God read lies?

I had a death experience in 2004 and my soul stood in God’s judgment. I was shown the record of my life’s events up to the time of my death and I can assure you, the Akashic Records were utterly factual. Further to seeing the Akashic Records during my soul’s judgment, I also saw the Akashic Records that pertained to the previous lives my soul has lived. The Akashic Records are so intricately detailed that just touching one of these past life memory sets is like living the previous life again. I’m told that the Akashic Records are even so complete that they also have everything that WILL happen as well, but I didn’t personally experience this aspect of the Akashic Records during my NDE.

Imagine having the opportunity to read the amazing Akashic Records while you are still alive! Wouldn’t that be incredible? Well, it CAN be done. We wouldn’t even know that the Akashic Records existed at all, if it wasn’t possible to gain a living glimpse. To read the Akashic Records, you simply need to be in the most receptive spiritual state possible and this comes in deep meditation or in a hypnotic trance. Actually, I suppose the hypnotic trance route is the more direct way to get to the Akashic Records.
